Coming back to this series for the 4th and final installment was like watching your baby, all grown up, and leaving the house. It was bittersweet, the characters still as intensely familiar, the action picking up exactly when it left off, and your heart still racing faster than your breath can keep up with. I feel like we all waited FOREVER for Endure, and Mr. Merrick definitely satisfied the senses.
There are 3 other books before this finale, so I'm going to try to keep this as spoiler-free as possible. The conclusion of book 3 TORE.MY.HEART.OUT. I was a wreck for HOURS. I kept tuning my e-reader on and trailing back to the last page, hoping the outcome was different..hoping I could save my heart this time around. No suck luck. I was still a wreck. Endure dove right back into the thick of things, with everyone picking up the pieces from the last book, and moving on to even deeper waters. The characters, Chase especially, were stronger, smarter, and more determined. It has been such a pleasure to have been able to see him grow from the self-conscious, undetermined, shell of a hunter he was in book 1, Exhiled. This Chase in Endure was one I couldn't stop beaming at, I felt like I raised him myself, THAT'S how proud I was. For M.R.Merrick to even possess writing capabilities amazing enough to allow me to feel that, is a whole reason on it's own to pick up this series.
Ahhh *happy sigh* Drakar, how I missed your lovely purple seas. I was so, SO happy that the author brought us back to that world. I've been raving about it since book 1, and I was delirious with happiness when I discovered the characters were venturing back there in Endure. The descriptive scenery, and characters in Drakar, were just as beautifully heart-wrenching as I remember it. Also, as usual, Merrick BROUGHT THE ACTION, and probably the most intense yet. With everyone's abilities stronger, and more in control, you're in for a ride through fight scenes that will leave you breathless, and your head spinning. Paranormal fiction was MEANT to be written this way, and my GOD how I wish this series could go on forever *siiiigh*.
I'm afraid to give away something I shouldn't. So I end on high note, with gushes, and admiration for what M.R.Merrick has done for this series. It was wrapped up BRILLIANTLY. If you haven't read book 1 as yet, I truly have NO idea what you're waiting for...GO NOW!!
